WNTAI’s message is not a religious or political one. We just think everyone needs the facts! Online Pornography is a risk and one which is on the increase. Once you have seen it you can’t un-see it!

Is it really a problem? Look at some of the figures below and judge for yourself.

  •  Unwanted exposure – over 20% of Adults and over 80% of Children get exposed to Online Pornography unintentionally.
  • 93% of boys and 62% of girls view pornography before the age of 18.
  • 88% of scenes in porn films contain acts of physical aggression, and 49% of scenes contain verbal aggression.
  • The average age of first exposure to pornography is 11 years old.
  • 15% of boys and 9% of girls have seen child pornography.
  • 20% of all mobile searches are for pornography
  • 25% of all online searches are for pornography
  • 24% of smartphone owners admit to having pornographic material on their mobile handset.
  • 71% of teens hide online behaviour from their parents.
  • 28% of 16-17 year olds have been unintentionally exposed to porn online.
  • 20% of 16-year-olds and 30% of 17-year-olds have received a sext.
  • 19% of 18-24 year-olds have sent a sext.

There is not a button to press which makes porn less available, but we can try to encourage responsible consumption in a similar way we do with alcohol. We should be teaching everybody and especially the younger generation how and why to avoid porn.  

We need to start talking about Porn and the risks associated with it.
